Implement Mandatory Public Notice and Evaluations for Neighborhood RV Park Developments

Implement Mandatory Public Notice and Evaluations for Neighborhood RV Park Developments
The Issue
My name’s Nicole and I live in the beautiful Green Meadows West neighborhood of Harbor City, Los Angeles. We're asking for your support as our quaint residential neighborhood is currently threatened by the invasion of an unannounced RV Park. Silver RV Park is being developed right in our midst, without any prior notice or discussion with the neighborhood which will be directly impacted. This situation is not an isolated incident. This developer has a track record of law violations and code discrepancies with his past projects but was still issued permits with little to no scrutiny. There are clear signs that our system fails to safeguard the interests of unsuspecting neighborhoods. It's concerning to note that thorough evaluations like these are not mandatory.
We cannot ignore the potential impacts of such lax decisions on the environment and local communities. Based on a 2019 statistic, improper RV park developments can lead to increased traffic by 20-30% in residential areas (Statista). It also ignores other potential hazards such as soil contamination, particularly if the development is on recently capped oils well, like in our neighborhood.
This situation requires immediate action. Therefore, our demand is threefold. Firstly, we need obligatory public notices when developing an RV Park in residential areas. Secondly, a comprehensive assessment of the developer's past projects, complaints, and violations should be required before permitting. Finally, a full environmental impact report with an in-depth soil analysis should be mandatory while developing on recently capped oil wells.
Together, we can put an end to such abrupt decisions that put our neighborhoods and environment at risk. Please sign and support us to enact these changes on a policy level to help other neighborhoods prevent future ill-planned RV park developments.
