Implement Mandatory Life Skills Courses in Sumner County Public Schools

Implement Mandatory Life Skills Courses in Sumner County Public Schools
The Issue
I firmly believe in the power of education and the critical role it plays in shaping our future generations. As someone invested in this issue, I insist on the introduction of Life Skills courses in Sumner County Public Schools. This includes reviving Home-Economics, Shop, Cooking, Sex-Ed, Estate Planning, Retirement, and Credit classes. These subjects not only provide practical knowledge but also equip students with skills indispensable in ensuring personal and financial stability in adulthood.
In a world that is becoming more complex and challenging, practical knowledge stands as paramount. According to the Council for Economic Education, only a third of U.S. states require high-school students to take a course in personal finance, yet studies have proven that students who take these classes have better average credit scores and lower debt delinquency rates as young adults (Source: Council for Economic Education).
By not including these vital subjects in our curriculum, we may be inadvertently creating a generation lacking vital skills to survive and thrive in the adult world. Every American is deserving of an equal chance to learn, and our public schools must reflect that belief by providing well-rounded education.
It's time for Sumner County Public Schools to take this step towards enhancing our youth's life skills education. Join me in calling on our school district to bring these necessary life skills classes back into our curriculum. Please sign this petition.
