Growing up, I never had the chance to learn about LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences in school. Without guidance and understanding, I found it challenging to come to terms with my own identity. This lack of information not only affected my self-acceptance but also limited my ability to empathize with others who might be facing similar struggles.

Many children today are in the same position I was, lacking the resources to understand their identities and those of their peers. By integrating LGBTQIA+ education into school curriculums, we can foster a more inclusive and understanding generation. This education is vital in promoting acceptance, reducing discrimination, and fostering a safe environment for all students.

According to a survey by GLSEN, schools that included LGBTQIA+ topics in their curriculum saw students report feeling safer and experiencing less harassment. This is compelling evidence that inclusive education can profoundly impact school communities.

Teaching children about LGBTQIA+ history, challenges, and contributions will prepare them for a diverse society where everyone deserves respect and equality. It will equip students with the knowledge they need to be supportive allies and informed citizens.

Let's urge the Ministry of Education to mandate LGBTQIA+ education as a standard part of the school curriculum. Together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for all young people.
