Tension fills the air each time I drive home, as I constantly have to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting chickens that have somehow found their way onto the road. It's a scary event that endangers both their lives and my safety. This should not be the norm, and it is for this reason that I urge you to support a law requiring farm animals to be kept on property. The lack of such laws not only puts these animals in danger but also poses an unnecessary risk to drivers trying to navigate our roads. Accidents involving animals account for an alarming number of road accidents, with over a million collisions reported each year in the United States alone (Insurance Information Institute, 2018). Such unnecessary accidents can be avoided if farm animals are properly contained on their owner's properties. It's time we prioritize everyone's safety, both human and animal alike.
