Implement Later Start Times for Schools

The Issue

Numerous studies have shown that early school start times can be detrimental to students' health and academic performance. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, teenagers who do not get enough sleep are at a higher risk for a variety of physical and mental health problems, including depression and obesity. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that insufficient sleep in adolescents is associated with reduced academic performance. By starting school later in the day, we can ensure our students are receiving adequate rest which will positively impact their overall well-being and academic success. We urge education policymakers to consider these facts when setting school schedules. Please sign this petition if you support later start times for schools.
