Implement Girls Flag Football as an Official Spring PIAA Sport at Unionville High School

The Issue

My daughter, Jadey Farrell, found her passion and love for Girls Flag Football a few years ago. As a freshman at Unionville High School, it's the primary sport she shows interest in playing, and her situation is not unique. Many of her female peers share this passion and would love to have a shot at representing their school district in a sport they truly care for. Regrettably, their enthusiasm does not currently have a gateway via the school's athletic department, limiting their opportunities for growth, development, and recognition.

Currently, there are at least 21 schools within PIAA District 1 that officially endorse Girls Flag Football. Moreover, the NFL Girl Flag Football League enjoys active participation from more than 25 girls from K-12th in the Unionville School District, demonstrating a clear interest. Furthermore, as the current NFL High School Girls Flag Football Coach; I would be more than willing to volunteer my time and energy on and off of the field.  Given the current growth and popularity, it's time Unionville High School established Girls Flag Football as an official Spring PIAA Sport.

The significance of this change goes beyond giving the girls an opportunity to play. Colleges now recognize Girls Flag Football, offering scholarships that could provide these talented young women new educational opportunities.

The time is now. For Jadey, for her fellow players, and for future female athletes in the Unionville School District. It's time we recognize and support the passion these girls have for flag football. Let's empower them, not limit their potential. Sign this petition to make Girls Flag Football an official Spring PIAA Sport at Unionville High School.
