I am writing to you out of deep concern for the safety and wellbeing of my children, myself, and other tenants living in our housing estate. Recently, there was a terrifying incident of a shooting right here, which shook us to the core and left everyone feeling anxious and insecure. Compounding this is the ongoing problem of people squatting in empty flats, which has further increased the sense of unease in our community.

Considering these circumstances, it's alarming that we still lack a dedicated, full-time security team to monitor our housing estate. Other housing estates have already implemented comprehensive security measures, including around-the-clock personnel and security cameras, to prevent such incidents and to provide residents with peace of mind.

Therefore, I am calling upon our local authorities to prioritize our safety by establishing permanent, 24/7 security presence in our housing estate. This should include security personnel with a designated flat on the premises where they can rest, make tea or coffee, use restroom facilities, and monitor security cameras effectively. Such resources are critical for our security staff to perform their duties efficiently, ensuring that they are constantly vigilant and ready to act in any emergency.

Moreover, providing these facilities will attract experienced security professionals who can actively deter unauthorized access, thus preventing squatters and potential criminal activity. By installing and maintaining a robust security system, complete with monitored surveillance cameras, we can create a safer environment for all residents.

Safety is a basic human right, one that we should all be able to enjoy in our own homes without living in fear. It is incumbent upon us to act now to prevent any tragedy from occurring again.
