Implement Fair Pay and Passenger Preferences for Ride-Share Drivers in South Carolina

Implement Fair Pay and Passenger Preferences for Ride-Share Drivers in South Carolina
The Issue
As a ride-share driver in South Carolina, I am personally affected by the current pay structure and policies of ride-sharing companies. The existing system often leaves drivers underpaid for their time, effort, and vehicle maintenance costs. Therefore, we are calling on our state legislators to enact laws that ensure fair compensation for all ride-share drivers.
We propose that all ride-sharing companies should be required to pay drivers a minimum of $1.50 per mile and $0.50 per minute with a minimum fare of $10 per trip. This payment should be based on actual time spent and miles driven rather than arbitrary rates set by the company.
Furthermore, we demand that drivers receive at least 80% of what is charged to the rider while ensuring all tips go directly to the driver without any deductions from the company.
In addition to fair compensation, it is essential that passengers have more control over their travel experience by being able to request specific drivers as seen with Wridz - a practice which has proven successful.
Lastly, we urge lawmakers to amend the TNC Act allowing cash tips for ride-share services - an option currently unavailable but could significantly boost driver income if implemented.
These changes will not only improve working conditions for thousands of hard-working South Carolinians like myself but also enhance service quality for riders across our state.
Stand with us in demanding better treatment and rights for ride-share drivers in South Carolina. Sign this petition today!
