The Issue

Over the years, it has become increasingly apparent that employees are viewed less as individuals and more as replaceable expenses in the eyes of some companies. For many of us, this painful reality is felt deeply and personally. We are more than just numbers on a ledger; we are people with lives and families that depend on us. It seems that shareholders and managers often distanced from the frontline workers have forgotten this essential truth. We should not have to feel like we are fighting to save our jobs every time an unforeseen accident or issue occurs in the workplace.

I have witnessed many company policies change over the time in the work force, but none have felt as intrusive as this recent one. The installation of inward facing cameras are not only an invasion of privacy but also a distraction from our job. They light up talk and make noises. The driver s more on edge due to the camera in fear or being reprimanded or talked to due to something that may or may not be in their control.

Initially presented as a safety device or a learning tool has now become a device to blame the individual rather then having an understanding for human error a multitude of scenarios that could happen. Since they camera have no other job to look forward or inward to never blink.

These cameras are not passive observers they are a distraction and obstruction. It impairs the drivers focus leading to potential hazards.  The cameras are equipped with infrared red light.

Moreover, the rational behind these cameras seems skewed. It's less about our protection and more about shielding the company from liability and lawsuits.  They have urned incidents into a blame game, painting us as the bad employees rather then acknowledging accidents occur despite the vigilant work ethics.

In far too many work environments, employees are left unprotected and often scapegoated when anything goes wrong, regardless of their involvement or fault. This culture of blame not only fosters fear and resentment but also undermines the very fabric of trust and team cohesion necessary for a healthy and productive workplace.

It is time to implement fair and supportive workplace policies that prioritize employee welfare and protect us from unjust blame. Companies should establish clear guidelines that ensure all incidents are fairly assessed, and safeguards are in place to protect employees who have acted in good faith.

Additionally, companies should regularly conduct training and workshops to educate both employees and management on conflict resolution, transparency, and mutual respect. Creating a workplace environment that values and empowers employees, rather than threatening their stability, can enhance productivity and morale, ultimately benefiting the organization as a whole.

We urge companies to adopt these measures swiftly, recognizing that their workforce is their greatest asset. We call on corporate leaders, HR departments, and policymakers to take this issue seriously and work collaboratively to create workplaces where respect, safety, and fairness are standard.

Please sign this petition to push for actionable change that supports and protects all employees, ensuring that going to work means being part of a trusted community rather than a battlefield.
