Implement Comprehensive Security Measures in All Schools Now

The Issue

With heavy hearts, the alarming frequency of mass shootings in recent years has me in panic for our children ! It is inexcusable that, in 2023 alone, we have witnessed 476 mass shootings. Our children, who should be safe in their learning environments, are instead subjected to the real threat of potential violence every single day. How many more innocent lives have to be lost before we take serious action?

We now stand together, advocating for the implementation of stricter security measures in our schools. We believe that all schools must have trained security guards present at all times, ensuring the safety of our children. Moreover, installing metal detectors at all entry points can drastically reduce the potential for violent incidents by intercepting any weapons before they enter school premises. Finally, we insist on the use of clear book bags - a simple yet effective measure that further minimizes the possibility of concealed weapons being carried into our schools.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, during the 2015-2016 school year, only 33% of public schools reported using metal detectors on a daily basis while 68% of schools reported having security staff present during school hours [source: U.S. Department of Education]. These figures are outdated and inadequate in today's world.

Let's not wait for another tragic incident to jolt us into action. Enough is enough. We demand preventive measures, stricter security laws, and more secure educational institutions for our children. Your signature carries the message that every child deserves a safe learning environment - free from harm, free from fear. Please, sign this petition today.
