Pontiac Lake and surrounding area lakes are facing a growing problem with an overpopulation of Canadian geese. Their droppings are creating constant cleanup issues for homeowners, degrading water quality, and contributing to repeated E. coli–related beach closures during the summer. The impact on recreation, public health, and the lake’s ecosystem is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

A humane population‑management program is urgently needed. Proven methods—such as habitat modification, and egg‑oiling can reduce goose numbers without harming the birds, helping restore the lake’s ecological balance and protecting public use of the beach.
