As parents of students of Louisiana State University, we find ourselves gripped by fear when our students are expressing that they are afraid to walk the campus after dark. Our student's personal safety is a concern that haunts every parent daily and hinders the the student's  ability to fully participate in university life. I believe that implementing a blue light security system can significantly alleviate this fear and enhance both students and parents  sense of security.

Blue light systems have been proven effective in many universities across the nation. They are direct links to campus police, providing immediate assistance when activated. According to Campus Safety Magazine, 89% of universities reported that these systems have helped prevent crime on their campuses (Campus Safety Magazine, 2019).

Parents like myself are not asking for an impenetrable fortress but for a reasonable measure that can deter potential threats and offer us peace of mind. It's time for LSU to prioritize student safety by installing a blue light security system throughout the campus.
