Implement Better Dog Control Measures in Copper Canyon

The Issue

I am a resident of the Copper Canyon area in Murrieta, CA, and a dog owner. My dog and I moved here over the summer and in the short span of time, my dog has been attacked twice by dogs without a leash. Alongside this terrifying threat, I've also noticed significant amounts of dog waste left unpicked on our streets, adding to the unsightly and unhygienic conditions of our neighborhood.

Unfortunately, my experience is not unique. Countless other dog owners and walkers share similar experiences daily. The absence of strict rules to leash dogs and tidy up waste poses a serious risk to the safety and cleanliness of our shared environment.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, unrestrained dogs are more likely to become involved in dangerous and potentially fatal situations (source: AVMA). Moreover, pet waste harbors diseases which can cause infection in humans and spread to other dogs (source: CDC).

We're calling for the establishment of firm local regulations and signs requiring all dog owners in Murrieta CA to leash their dogs in public and promptly pick up after them. Implementing these measures will safeguard dog owners and their pets, as well as improve the cleanliness of our beloved Copper Canyon community.

Please support this petition to ensure the safety of our four-legged friends and the beautification of our neighborhood. Together, let's spark the change we wish to see. Your signature counts!
