Implement ASL Interpretation for all Government Presentations and Briefings

Implement ASL Interpretation for all Government Presentations and Briefings
The Issue
I write this petition on behalf, of the numerous people I personally know who are affected daily due to the lack of ASL interpretation at government presentations and briefings. Closed captioning, while helpful to some, is not an ecosystem of communication for the Deaf. It's essential to understand that American Sign Language (ASL) and English are distinctly different. Considering that ASL is the primary language for an estimated 500,000 to 2 million people in the United States, this is not a minor issue (National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders).
When vital information is disseminated by our government, everyone should have unfettered access to understand it. By ensuring ASL interpretation is provided during all government presentations and briefings, we can ensure a more inclusive communication approach. Being deaf or hard of hearing should not equate to being uninformed.
Stand with us in our pursuit to make this change. Sign the petition to request mandatory ASL interpretation for all government presentations and briefings.
