The Issue

Let's not pretend that everything in this country isn’t intertwined with race. We've seen yet another tragic incident highlighting this issue. If the woman involved had been a 22-year-old slim blonde in her trendy yoga gear, would Jameson still be with us today? This isn't just speculation—it's a pattern that's tearing communities apart across Los Angeles and beyond.

We need transparency, and a step towards that is the release of the audio from the 911 call. I suspect that the neighbor mentioned the woman's race, and that's why 20 officers, plus a helicopter, responded to what should have been a simple noise complaint. Would this have unfolded the same way if the woman was white? We all know the answer. We need systemic change, not just an investigation or an apology.

It's time for the Los Angeles Police Department to implement mandatory anti-bias training for all its officers. Proper training can mitigate racial bias and promote fairer policing. This is about saving lives and ensuring that the police protect everyone equally, regardless of race.

This isn't just about preventing another case like Jameson's—it's about fostering trust and understanding between communities and the police who serve them. Let's work towards a future where every individual is treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their skin color.

I urge you to join me in demanding this vital change for our city. Your signature can help ensure that no other family experiences such a senseless loss. Please sign this petition for a safer, fairer Los Angeles.
