I have always been an animal lover, dedicating over a decade of my life to provide dignified existence to the voiceless creatures around us. It's deeply heartbreaking to witness the brutalities they face - from murderous intent to harassment of those who feed them, to tragic accidents due to lack of proper shelter. It's high time India includes animal welfare on its national agenda.

Thus, from the depth of my personal experiences and struggle, I propose the introduction of an 'Animal Welfare Tax' in the financial budget of India. This tax, allocated to state and local municipal corporations, would serve as a much-needed source of funding for the construction of small animal hospitals in each ward along with food and feeding points for strays.

On a broader spectrum, provisions need to be made towards food, water, and medical facilities for animals in the wilderness during the off-season, ensuring their survival and protection of our rich biodiversity.

Lastly, according to World Animal Protection's 2020 Animal Protection Index, India ranks C out of A-G, reflecting the urgent need to prioritize and improve animal welfare standards.

Let's turn our compassion into action. I urge the concerned authorities to implement this tax, extend our empathy to every corner of the country, and provide our fellow creatures the compassionate treatment they rightfully deserve. Please sign this petition for a humane tomorrow.
