I am a longstanding member of the gaming community in Moreton Bay, Queensland. Like many others in our area, gaming is more than a hobby - it's a means of connection, a way to unwind, and a focal point for our community. However, our fellow council towns in Brisbane offer game venues with little to no cost. Moreton Bay is left in the dust, with no such facility.

Recognition and support for the gaming community are growing across Australia. The Australian Bureau of Statistics' data shows that over half of all Australians are active gamers. Moreover, gaming events are powerful economic engines. The 2017 PAX Australia event generated an estimated $40 million for the Melbourne economy (MIGW, Melbourne International Games Week).

Our council needs to respond to these trends by providing a dedicated and affordable gaming venue accessible during nights and weekends. This facility should cater to board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, and serve as a communal hub for local gamers. Many of us are either working adults, students, or families who need flexible hours to engage with our passion and community. This venue's institution would enhance community, connection, and creativity in Moreton Bay.

For the good of Moreton Bay's gaming community and its overall societal and economic benefits, we urge the Moreton Bay Regional Council to create an affordable and accessible gaming venue. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
