I am a parent of two adopted children who have sadly experienced harm while using the school bus transport. My daughter has had her hearing aid and glasses broken, and my son has repeatedly come home with bruises and has wrongly been blamed for things he hasn't done. The CCTV, that should be a safety net, does not always work.

No child should fear for their safety when commuting to and from their school, a place they go to learn, to grow. However, the lack of supervision on school buses has made this journey a scary reality for my children and potentially many more around the nation.

Statistics show that significant percent of bullying incidents happen on school buses. We believe that the presence of an adult supervisor can deter these events significantly. We need to promote a safe and secure travel environment for our children, where they feel protected, respected, and comfortable.

Taking into consideration these experiences and alarming statistics, we urge school administrators and transit authorities to establish a mandatory policy requiring an adult supervisor on every school bus.
