Implement Age Caps for Presidential Candidates: Maximum 60

The Issue

This petition carries profound personal significance, resulting from the disillusion felt observing the current political environment. An urgent need is evident for vibrant, honest, and adept leadership; leadership that brings innovative solutions and understands the evolving world we live in. As supporters, we find ourselves at a critical juncture where we must address concerns about the age of our Presidential candidates.

Under the U.S. constitution today, the president must be at least 35 years old. However, there is no cap on how old a president or presidential candidate can be. This lack of any upper age limit has resulted in more septuagenarian presidential candidates now than ever before. In the 2020 United States presidential elections, both principal candidates were over 70 years old. This marked an uncommon event in U.S. history [Source: Congressional Research Service].

We believe it's time to introduce an upper age limit of 60 for presidential candidates. Aging inevitably affects mental agility and physical stamina, thereby raising legitimate concerns about elderly presidential candidates' ability to effectively perform the role's demanding duties [Source: American Psychological Association]. We need younger candidates who can represent our changing demographics and evolving needs.

Let's call upon our Senators, Representatives and even the Supreme Court to implement age caps for Presidential Candidates. We deserve better. Please lend your support to this significant cause by signing the petition.
