Implement a Worldwide Identification Database for Pets (WIDBP) by the EU
The Issue
Imagine the trauma of being separated from your beloved pet at customs due to a damaged chip or missing documentation. This is not just an imaginary scenario but a harsh reality faced by many pet owners.
An example:
A friend of mine had his dog confiscated at customs, even though he had all the necessary documents and passport for his pet. The dog's chip was damaged during flight, leaving him with two heartbreaking choices - send his pet back home or put him in quarantine. He chose the latter, resulting in his dog being transported to an unsatisfactory pet pension where it was left confused and scared.
2nd Example:
Their were even other petowners that their dearest pet lost his life during this quarantaine. She doesn t know what happened their after her inquiry. She was held in the dark. I think that she even didn 't get the opportunity to say goodbye to her soulmate
3th Example:
Their are others that their pets get double doses of all the vaccins they had to arrange by the EU guidelines. First in their own country and afterwards at the destination because of damaged chips because the chip is unreadable by the transponders at the customs. So it means paspoort and documents are not satisfying for customs of countries. But with this app called Worldwide Identification Data Base for Pets made by the EU where every citizen, departments of ministries, vetclinics, customs of all countries can login with eIDAS can be avoided all misery for all pets and petowners
This traumatic experience can be avoided with the implementation of a Worldwide Identification Database for Pets (WIDBP). We propose that the European Union initiates this app so that all world citizens can register their pets when they travel or immigrate to different countries. With such an app in place, pets won't face unnecessary distress at customs.
According to American Pet Products Association (APPA), 67% of U.S households own a pet which equates to 84.9 million homes [source: APPA]. Given these numbers, it's clear that there is an urgent need for WIDBP as millions of pets and their owners could potentially benefit from this service.
We urge you to support our cause and help us ensure no more pets are traumatized due to bureaucratic hurdles during travel. Sign our petition today!
