Implement a Unified Digital System Across All NHS Districts

The Issue

Just like myself 20 something years ago, My daughter lives with severe complex medical conditions that require 24-hour care. Her care team is spread across clinics and hospitals in Fife, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. The coordination and management of her medical information across these different districts can prove to be challenging. There is an urgent need for a unified, digital system across all NHS districts that could streamline the entire process for many families and care teams and ensure efficient sharing and access to patient data.

NHS staff themselves would benefit significantly from such a system, as it would provide them with faster and easier access to necessary patient data. Additional benefits include enhanced communication within multidisciplinary teams, improved care standards, and increased patient satisfaction, also a Lower need for unnecessary repetitive appointments for patients with multi team approaches in the long term. According to the NHS Digital Annual Report 2019, digital solutions have delivered savings of £1.5 billion since 2015. A unified digital system could drive further substantive cost savings, which would be vital in an ever-challenging fiscal climate. For these reasons and the emotional and practical burdens families like ours face daily, we implore the key decision-makers to recognise the urgent necessity for a single, digitalised NHS system across all districts in the NHS sector. Please, sign this petition to support the implementation of a unified digital system across all NHS districts.
