We are concerned parents and citizens of Delray Beach, FL, and we believe that the safety of our children should be top priority. 

Currently, there is no designated school zone at Morikami Park Elementary. This lack of safety measures puts our children in danger every day as they travel to and from school.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2019 alone, 214 school-age children died in school-transportation-related crashes. The presence of a school zone significantly reduces these risks by slowing down traffic near schools and increasing driver awareness.

Morikami Park Elementary is home to hundreds of students who deserve safe passage to their education. 

There have already been several accidents in the area, including an awful one which occurred this morning, Friday November 3rd, 2023.

We should not be waiting helplessly for additional accidents and even more people getting hurt, in order for there to be a change.

We must take action now before it's too late. 

By implementing a designated school zone around Morikami Park Elementary, we can ensure that all students are provided with the safe environment they need for learning.
