Implement a "Phone-Home" Policy in Humble Schools

Implement a "Phone-Home" Policy in Humble Schools
The Issue
My little sister Jyani is very smart naturally and to watch as the phone hinders her development cognitively, the very thought of it is dismaying. I’m not alone in this understanding either. I see so many little kids and peers alike being okay with not putting their best foot forward. If they were to be stripped of their devices, it would force them to wrestle with their potential; or at the very least view the world around them. There’s so much learning and processing that students undergo in school that it would be a disservice as a parent/ teacher to let this go by uncontested. According to various studies and an overwhelmingly undeniable consensus among people groups, phone usage from all ages have increased dramatically over the course of a few decades, but interestingly enough Humble ISD scores have decreased in proportion to the increase of phone use. In other words, the phone usage in schools are linked to severely unfavorable academic outcomes. By implementing a "phone-home" policy within the walls of our schools, we can create an environment where students focus more on learning and less on distractions from mobile devices. Studies have shown that excessive phone use during school hours can negatively impact academic performance (Source: American Psychological Association). Not just academically but socially aswell. Let’s ensure our children have the best opportunity to succeed by supporting this initiative. The world is growing rapid and so should our children. Please sign this petition to make it happen!
