As a concerned member of our educational community, I have noticed an alarming trend among students. The excessive use of cellphones during class hours has become a significant distraction, consuming valuable time that should be dedicated to learning and academic growth. Instead, this time is spent on online games and social media platforms.

Research shows that the average student spends about one-third of their in-school time on their phone for non-educational purposes (Common Sense Media). This not only hampers their academic performance but also limits their capacity to engage fully in the learning process. Moreover, it fosters an environment where attention spans are shortened and interpersonal skills are neglected.

I urge our school administrators to implement a no cellphone policy during class hours. This policy will ensure that students can focus on their studies without distractions, thus promoting better academic performance and fostering a more conducive learning environment.
