Implement a Karma-like System on YTB / Boycotting YTB Kids

Implement a Karma-like System on YTB / Boycotting YTB Kids
The Issue
Imagine seeing a shock video on YouTube. it might be "funny" to some, but there are things you can't un-see, like coins in a washing machine. By letting your child watch videos online, you are giving them full permission to watch illegal material, and a life of trauma.
Like many of you, I have experienced numerous issues with the content on YouTube. The presence of illegal shock/snuff material, fetishised content farms, softcore pornography, and even 'minion gore' videos is disturbing and unacceptable. Worse still, these videos are available without any sort of restriction, due to the lack of options to report violent content.
The current reporting system only allows users to report violent threats, not violent or inappropriate content that blatantly breaks the Terms of Service (TOS). This deficiency highlights the platform's over-reliance on its algorithms and AI, which clearly need perfecting.
A proposed solution, and the object of this petition, is for YouTube to instill a system similar to Reddit’s karma system. This will allow users to have a more direct influence on the quality of content presented on the platform. Through a more democratic system, inappropriate or harmful content that currently slips through the cracks can be effectively moderated and removed.
Additionally, it's pertinent for YouTube to introduce a mandatory monthly content evaluation for all accounts. This provides another layer of control and ensures regular checks that content aligns with community guidelines and TOS. According to a study from Pew Research Center, 81% of surveyed parents with children age 11 or younger say they at least occasionally let their child watch videos on YouTube. Consequently, these proposed changes will provide a safer environment for all users, but especially for impressionable children who should be protected from improper content.
Join me in making YouTube a better place for everyone. This is not just my personal fight—it affects us all.
