As a local community in Fremont, CA, we are deeply concerned and personally affected by the state of our local animal shelter. As of now, all spay and neuter services provided to the public runs primarily on the painstaking efforts of volunteer rescuers who are relentlessly working, yet are exhausted. This highlights the dire need for serious reform in our shelter.
One of the major issues is the lack of a full-time veterinarian, which is critically important. Alongside this, the shelter desperately needs more staff members to assist with the increasing numbers of abandoned and rescued animals. As well as a consistently growing feral cat population. With the existing minimal resources and staff at our local shelter, handling this enormous task is near impossible.
A fully-staffed shelter and access to a permanent vet is not a privilege, but a necessity. As citizens of Fremont and as those who value the lives of these innocent animals, it is up to us to challenge the current circumstances. We urge our local authorities to take immediate action and meet our demand for a full-time veterinarian and additional staff at our local shelter. Please sign this petition to help bring about this much-needed change.
