Implement a Four-Day School Week with Extended Day Hours in NISD Schools

Implement a Four-Day School Week with Extended Day Hours in NISD Schools
The Issue
I, like thousands of children that attend NISD Schools, struggle to balance the demands of school with general life. School presently follows a five-day week pattern which is exhaustive and overwhelming, leaving us unable to engage fully with our lives outside of academics. By switching to a four-day school week with slightly extended hours each day, we allow students to regain essential rest and recuperation time, without compromising on education.
Many of us come home drained from a rigorous school day, struggling to engage in hobbies, family time, or even just relaxing due to limited hours left in the day. A four-day school week would provide that much-needed extra day to recharge while still maintaining the same amount of instruction time by simply extending the length of each school day slightly.
According to the National Education Association, reducing the school week to four days can increase student achievement and reduce operating costs (National Education Association). Moreover, states that have implemented this system, such as Colorado, Montana, and Oklahoma, report improved teacher and student morale and increased attendance rates (Education Week).
We are advocating for a balance in our students' lives and teachers' lives. We're not asking to reduce the time allocated to learning; instead, we're asking for it to be redistributed in a way that considers our physical and mental well being, too.
