Implement a Field Turf Field at Greenfield High School

Implement a Field Turf Field at Greenfield High School
The Issue
Greenfield High School, situated in Greenfield, WI, USA, has long had the same athletic playing surface. The current grass field is subject to wear and tear, weather changes, and requires significant maintenance effort.
FieldTurf, an artificial turf, can be a sustainable alternative, offering durability, lower maintenance needs, and an all-weather capability. According to a study from Penn State’s Center for Sports Surface Research, artificial turf fields tend to have a consistent playing surface and greater usability across a variety of weather conditions when compared to natural grass fields.
By installing a FieldTurf surface at Greenfield High School, we can assure a high-level playing surface for our student-athletes year-round, promote a healthier, safer sport experience, and save money on maintenance in the long run. With Greenfield High School adding sports and activities, the need for usable space is becoming very evident. This field will benefit not only football, but also boys and girls soccer, rugby, cheerleading, dance, boys and girls track and field; boys and girls lacrosse. Other activities such as marching band and JROTC will also benefit from this playing surface being installed. This surface will also increase the teaching areas for phsycial education and other subject areas, become a venue where GHS can host gradution every year, and be used by ALL schools in the Greenfield School District for special events.
The proposed FieldTurf field will also directly benefit the youth league programs in Greenfield and can be used as an income generator to be able to rent out the playing surface for multiple tournaments.
It's time for Greenfield High School to invest in a sustainable future and bring a better sporting experience to our students. This petition is a conversation starter to see how this project can be financed by BOTH the Greenfield School District and the community at large. Please sign this petition to show your support!
