Implement a Feature to Sort YouTube Videos by Recording Date

Implement a Feature to Sort YouTube Videos by Recording Date
The Issue
As an avid user and appreciator of YouTube's vast video library, I've noticed a gap in the platform's sorting features. Very rarely do videos on YouTube get uploaded the day they are recorded, plus there are a number of videos on YouTube that predate YouTube itself, such as the Keyboard Cat which was recorded in the 1980s. This discrepancy between recording and upload dates can cause confusion and misrepresentation of content.
YouTube is home to over 500 hours of video uploaded every minute, with content spanning decades. Yet, its current sorting system only allows users to sort videos by upload date or popularity. This means that older recordings may be overlooked or lost in the shuffle due to their later upload dates.
I propose that if a publisher specifies a date recorded when uploading a video, it should appear as such on the platform. This doesn't need to be mandatory but would provide an additional layer of context for viewers seeking historical or chronological accuracy in their viewing experience.
By implementing this feature, we could enhance how we interact with and understand content on one of the world's most visited websites (source: Alexa Internet Rankings). Let us encourage YouTube to continue improving its user experience by adding this simple yet impactful feature.
Please sign this petition if you agree that being able to sort videos by recording date would be beneficial for all users across this global platform.
