Implement a Carcass Removal System in Butler County

Implement a Carcass Removal System in Butler County
The Issue
I am an everyday commuter on US Hwy 27 traveling from Cincinnati to Oxford, where I go to grad school at Miami University. Throughout my time commuting, I've observed a distressing sight that continues to worsen over time: the increasing presence of decaying animal carcasses, struck down on or near this stretch of roadway. With each day, new animal remains add to the gruesome spectacle, while those from previous days remain untouched, left to decompose in full sight for weeks on end.
It’s disheartening and unacceptable that no effective solution has been put in place to address this issue, especially when there are successful programs already existing that we can learn from.
One such program is the 311Cincy in Hamilton County, where local residents have the ability to report animal carcasses found on county-maintained roads. This simple yet effective system has resulted in cleaner and safer streets, revealing that a proactive approach towards addressing such issues can lead to a positive outcome.
We believe that implementing a similar program in Butler County, modeled after the success of the 311Cincy program, would prove beneficial for both the community and our local ecosystem. By providing a platform for citizens to report animal carcasses, we can ensure speedy removal, cleaner roadways, and a respect for the animals we share our surroundings with.
Our plea is to the Butler County authorities to look towards examples like 311Cincy, recognize its effectiveness, and replicate the program to better manage our roads. It's time to balance human needs with respect for our fellow creatures. We urge you to sign the petition and join our fight for safer, cleaner, and more humane roadways in Butler County.
