Implement a 30mph Speed Limit on Harlestone Road

Implement a 30mph Speed Limit on Harlestone Road
The Issue
Our beloved cat, Cookie, tragically lost her life on Harlestone Road, near the post office. Her loss is a heartbreaking addition to the increasing number of cat casualties reported on the "Spotted Duston" Facebook group, largely due to reckless speeding or the dangerous 40mph limit in this built-up area.
Implementing a 30mph speed limit on Harlestone Road would significantly enhance safety and reduce congestion, particularly on the lower section of Main Road near The Hart pub on Quarry Road. Slower speeds would give drivers more time to safely pull out onto Harelstone Road, decreasing the likelihood of accidents.
Additionally, the narrow pathway before Harlestone Manor Estate presents challenges for pedestrians. A reduced speed limit would create a safer environment for residents walking to and from Harlestone Firs or for children catching the bus near The Hart.
This change is essential not just for protecting our beloved pets and wildlife, but also for safeguarding every member of our community, both human and animal. It’s time to make Harlestone Road safer for everyone. We need to take action now to prevent further injuries and fatalities.
Please join us in our mission to save lives by signing this petition for a 30mph speed limit on Harlestone Road.
