Impeach the Mayor of Philadelphia

The Issue

Philadelphia's Mayor must be held accountable for her refusal to ensure our sanitation workers can earn a livable wage. As a resident of Philadelphia, I witness daily the hardships faced by these essential workers who tirelessly keep our city clean and functioning. Despite their dedication, the mayor consistently denies them the dignity of fair wages.

Sanitation workers play a crucial role in maintaining public health and safety. They work under harsh and demanding conditions, ever present during the sweltering heat of summer and the freezing temperatures of winter. Without fair compensation, these invaluable workers struggle to make ends meet, threatening their well-being and that of their families. It's disheartening that the city's leadership fails to recognize their indispensable contributions by providing them with the wages they deserve.

Data from similar U.S. cities show that increasing the wages of sanitation workers can significantly improve not just their quality of life, but also overall job satisfaction and efficiency. Cities like Seattle and San Francisco have successfully restructured their pay scales to support their sanitation departments, which resulted in better service and employee morale.

We rely on these workers, and it's high time our city leadership acknowledges their value by ensuring they receive a livable wage. Instead, the mayor's inaction sends a message of disregard for their essential work.

In tandem with other citizens of Philadelphia, we seek justice for our sanitation workers by urging the city council to impeach the mayor who so blatantly neglects the economic needs of those who serve our city day in and day out. Our community deserves leadership that respects and values every worker’s rights.

Sign this petition to demand the Philadelphia City Council initiate impeachment proceedings against Cherelle Parker. It’s time for change to reflect dignity, fairness, and the acknowledgment of the essential services performed by our sanitation workers. Together, we can make this happen. Your voice matters.
