As a concerned citizen of Oklahoma, I am deeply troubled by the actions and qualifications of Ryan Walters, who is currently involved in a charter school scandal and has been accused of misappropriating funds. It is clear that he is not fit to hold the position of superintendent and his proposed for charter school funding should be rejected.

Personal Story:
I have witnessed firsthand the negative consequences of mismanagement within our education system. As a parent, it breaks my heart to see valuable resources being wasted and our children's futures put at risk. The recent revelations about Ryan Walters' involvement in a charter school scandal only further solidify my concerns.

Reasons I'm against the charter school proposal:

1. Lack of Oversight: One major concern with this proposal is the lack of oversight of curriculum. For example, the curriculum (PragerU) being considered for most charter schools started in Florida. The name implies this curriculum was created by a credited university, however it was not even created by educators.  The curriculum is now being utilized and forced into the other states that house charter schools. This raises serious questions about what kind of education our children would receive under this proposed charter school system.

2. Cost: Another significant issue is the financial burden placed on taxpayers through double taxation - both public and charter funding. In Arizona, it was reported this proposal would cost $50 million initially; however, after two sign up periods, reports suggest that it could skyrocket  to $450 million plus! This excessive expenditure puts an unnecessary strain on taxpayers who are already struggling financially.

These reasons highlight why it is crucial for us as concerned citizens to come together and demand action against Ryan Walters' misguided charter school efforts.

By signing this petition, we urge those in positions of power within Oklahoma's government to impeach Ryan Walters from his current role as superintendent and reject his flawed charter school proposal immediately.

Together, let us protect our children's right to quality education by ensuring accountability within our educational system. Let us stand united against corruption and demand transparency and integrity from our leaders.
