East Ward voters, residents and taxpayers Petition to Mayor and Council of Fort Valley: Constituent Support of Rezoning Eastward to be an epicenter of commerce for Clean Energy and Sustainable stewardship 

Transforming the East Ward: We, the undersigned residents and stakeholders of The East Ward of Fort Valley, Georgia, urge you to stand with us in transforming the East Ward into a hub of progress and opportunity.

Welcoming Sustainable Industry: We support the rezoning efforts to welcome Imola Italia USA's industrial Electric Vehicle Battery and Parts Manufacturing entity, and all other environmentally friendly and sustainable industry into Fort Valley, GA.

Commitment to Clean Energy: We are insupportable of rezoning and The City of Fort Valley and the city's instruments committing to be a clean energy and sustainable city by 2025. 

Rooted in Environmental Protection: We aim to spark a revolution in sustainable industry and economic revitalization that is rooted in protecting the Earth, The Air we breath and the Water we drink.

Building upon Past Efforts: Imola Italia, renowned for its clean energy technology, seeks to establish Fort Valley as a cornerstone of the EV revolution, building upon the groundwork laid by bipartisan state legislators. It was our Black Legislators and  Black Congressional Caucus who put the pressure on Biden and Kemp to purchase megasites and funding specifically for and in majority black rural areas. 

Safeguarding the Community's Future: Our commitment transcends mere industry; it's about safeguarding our community's future by championing clean and smart energy.

Preserving Cultural Identity: The East Ward insist on preserving the fabric of the East Ward community by identifying cultural and historical zones.

Equitable Community Benefits: Through an East Ward Community based Racially Equitable Community Benefits Agreement, we will secure a future where all residents thrive, ensuring everyone has access to opportunity.

Demand for Accountability: We demand a racial equity assessment and audit by the City and the City's instruments, City all Department s and Department Heads, Board Members, Employees, and community, with ARP monies and IRA ACT monies be directed/redirected to fund such assessments by August 2024 and present equity plans to community, citizens and taxpayers by March 2025.

Federal Support for Underserved Communities: Per Executive Order 13985 and the BiPartisan Inflation Reduction Act-The Environmental and Climate Justice Program (ECJ Program), we seek funding for environmental and climate justice activities to benefit underserved and overburdened communities like the East Ward and Fort Valley, GA.
