Support nurse Kereen Turner to work in Canada during COVID-19 crisis

Support nurse Kereen Turner to work in Canada during COVID-19 crisis
The Issue
Its no secret that a second wave is upon us. Now, more than ever our health care system requires our front line nurses to provide top notch care.
Kereen Turner is a nurse employee at Halton Region hospital after graduating from Humber College. Kereen's dedication and compassion is needed during a time when patient care is critical. She is faced with an uncertain future as her post graduate work permit has not been renewed, due to an immigration policy that is not accurate with the current COVID-19 crisis.
Our government is failing to nurses like Kereen and many others health care providers as a new policy gives priority to international professionals, but not nurses that are educated locally.
The need for certified nurses, familiar with our standards is pivotal during this COVID-19 pandemic. Canadians are facing a real health crisis as our loved ones are getting sick at an increasingly high rate, our current nursing staff is burned out and over worked. For our communities this is a very fragile and vulnerable time.
Why do Canadians have to wait for foreign nurses to come to Canada when nurses like Kereen Turner with Canadian education and proper Canadian registration need to leave?
Take action now, by supporting Kereen Turner and this group of qualified working professionals that depend on the renewal/ extension of their post graduate work permit or work permit to continue providing high quality care to our communities.
Please sign this petition or contact your political leaders to extend work permits to nurses (like Kareen Turner) and other health care providers that are currently in Canada.
It is a small action that shows our gratitude and support to Kereen Turner and to those nurses that has being providing care to our love ones during this unprecedented Covid-19 time.
