As an update, Javier and his family wanted to let everyone know that after we were able to reschedule a number of check-in "report" appointments at the DHS/ICE office in Miramar in the last few months, we were asked to come in again in person to that office last week. After a few hours, we were able to leave with a six (6) month extension, until November 19th. We have been able to demonstrate that our petition for review before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals is a viable and meritorious petition. This case has now been pending for nearly a full year, with a number of delays, including the partial government shutdown of a few months ago. However, we believe we should have progress in this case soon, and we certainly hope to have resolution before our next report date in November.
We again want to thank everyone in the community for all of the support for Javier, his family, and his very compelling case. This has been a long process, with a number of ups and downs along the way. But, we maintain our faith in the legal system, and our goal to see Javier have the opportunity to fully present his very strong case before a judge, rather than being deported/removed from the United States without this opportunity. He has an approved marriage petition, and is eligible for certain forms of relief from deportation/removal if we are able to be successful with our petition.
Thank you again, on behalf of Javier and his family, and we will continue to keep everyone up to date as his case progresses. Have a great weekend!!
