To the South Whidbey School Board,

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, and concerned community members of the South Whidbey School District, formally request the immediate removal of Superintendent Jo Moccia from her position. Although Ms. Moccia has announced her intention to retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, we believe that it is in the best interest of our students, staff, and community for her tenure to end immediately.

Our concerns are not only rooted in her leadership shortcomings but also in her documented history of abusive behavior toward district staff. Multiple staff members have reported being subjected to mistreatment, bullying, and intimidation under her leadership. Her complete disregard for the safety, wellbeing, and professional dignity of district employees has created a toxic working environment that hinders their ability to support and educate our children effectively.

Despite numerous reports to the district and higher authorities, these serious concerns have gone unaddressed, leaving staff, students, and parents vulnerable to the continued negative effects of her leadership. We cannot allow such behavior to persist, nor can we accept the district's inaction in resolving these pressing issues.

While we understand that Ms. Moccia has had a long career in education, the harm caused by her abusive actions and the culture of fear and disrespect she has fostered can no longer be ignored. These behaviors have undermined staff morale, damaged the trust of our community, and pose a direct threat to the wellbeing of our children.

We urge the South Whidbey School Board to prioritize the safety and health of both staff and students by removing Ms. Moccia from her position without delay. It is time for new leadership that will restore trust, protect staff, and foster a positive and supportive environment for everyone in the district.

The future of our schools and the safety of our children and staff are too important to wait until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. We ask that you take swift action to protect the integrity of our school district.
