For years, it has been a widely known fact that rape and sexual assault is not about sex, but is about power, control, and violence. After all, it is labelled "assault". So why does IMDB classify these scenes under "Sex and Nudity" in it's Parental Guide, even in instances when no nudity is shown? 

While I understand that the reason is likely due to the larger issue surrounding these types of incidents, I am not here to battle misaligned societal views on sexual violence's authenticity on a broader scale. Instead, what I would like to do is acknowledge that sites like IMDB placing these scenes under "Sex and Nudity" only enforces a dangerous and damaging narrative that sexual assaults are "only sex", and thus not to be taken as seriously as violent actions like murders or muggings.

I urge IMDB to acknowledge the part they play in the way people perceive actions, and make one small change to the way they display these warnings in order to make a broader impact on the way these incidents are viewed by it's users.

Rape is not sex. Stop displaying it as such.
