Imbonggu Youth Foundation Fundraising Grant

Imbonggu Youth Foundation Fundraising Grant
The issue
Good night imbonggu.
Imbonggu District affiliated with PNG Labour Monility Unit in September of 2022. We registered 36 candidates as our 1st batch. Requirements were NID, Birth Certificate, Passport, Visa Police Clearance and Visa Medical. Since we started doing data recruitment, we did not receive funding from our District. We used our own money, resource and effort to run the program. We couldn't go to the District to do data recruitment as the program targeted youths in the District hence, we used family and friends in Hagen to collect data by posting on Facebook for youths to go register. It was a long and.slow process but we managed to register 36. Interview for the Candidates was to be held in Port Morseby in March 2023. We had no choice so asked the youths to pay for their own ticket to Port Moresby for their interview. We had to ask relatives and friends to accommodate them during their stay in Pom. We had no venue for the interview because we couldnt pay for one. By God's Grace we were given a interview room by PNGLMU at the Treasury office. We had no nurse for the interview which is part of the interview process. By God's Grace NCD Coordinator assisted us with a nurse she brought. The interview was successful. After the interview we had to wait for contracts to come through. City life was becoming hard and not long people were reluctant to look after the youths due to the high price of goods and service. We decided that we host Fundraising to help raise funds to meet some of our costs like food, police clearance, Visa medical and bus fare. We successfully hosted 2 fundraising which the turn out was excellent. We made enough money to pay for their food (bag of rice, tinfish, noodles). We used some of the money to do Police Clearance for them and NID for a few who did not get theirs quickly after registering. It was a very difficult task to do. Many times we were critized and was labeled scammers. We did not pull back. The important thing we knew was to assist our youths back at home to have a second chance in life to improve and build themselves. We saw this program was important and could change the lives of so many of our youths who used drugs & alcohol as a way of satisfaction to their hopelessness in the society. We saw this program can develop and empower youths economically, socially, emotionally and mentally. We saw this program could benefit a family, clan and tribe. We saw this program could really change a community. Youths make up the greater fraction of a society and by empowering them, they can be a positive influence in the lives of the future generation. And that is how Imbonggu Youth Foundation found its name. To empower and build a society of youths to be ambassadors of change going into the future. So, without funding assistance, we were willing to sacrifice everything for the youths. Often we did not have money.but we managed through God's Grace. It was a tru miracle that Rossitha Peke, our first candidate for Imbonggu Youth Foundation was selected to work in a Banana farm in Queensland at a rate of $26 per hour with accommodation, food, laundry, transport all paid for by the contractor. Our hardwork did pay off by sending just 1 for the first time. Because we did not have funding, we raised funds in our 2 fundraising to pay for her visa medical of K1,020.00. Thanks God we were able to send her in for her visa medical. We came through so many obstacles but that did not discourage us to throw our dreams away. We pushed through with determination and kept working hard to give our youths this one opportunity in life to make a difference in theirs. With or without funding, we will continue to build our future through this opportunity. We see the future of this Foundation bright. We aim to legally register with IPA, and have this Foundation to empower youths not only through Labour Mobility but through all other opportunities in education, SME, sports etc to rebuild their lives and positively influence the next generations. We believe in the next 5 years and beyond, Imbonggu will have business men & women, educated, CEOs, Managers, Department Secretaries, VIlage Councilors, etc....We hope to see our communities free from drug and alcohol abuse, reduced law & order problems, safer communities for our.mothers and young girls, new breed of honest, transparent and hardworking Leaders and young men and women.
Therefore, we appeal to all our people of imbonggu to please spare a K1 to help our youths back at home get a chance in doing something worthy than be a burden in the society. Your K1 can change someone's life forever.
Thank you Stephanie Kereme Imbonggu District Coordinator PNGLMU
