Illinois State Legislature: Repeal Unfair Election Code

Illinois State Legislature: Repeal Unfair Election Code
The Issue
Doing business as usual in Springfield and Washington is destroying our economic competitiveness, blocking our ability to make progress, and endangering our future as a state and nation. Enough! It’s time for our elected officials at all levels to put the needs of the American people ahead of politics. You and I deserve the basic constitutional privilege to be allowed to have a fair chance to be on the ballot so we can have our say.
Please help me sign this petition to compel our Illinois legislature, courts and the governor to repeal the amendment section 7-43 of Election Code (10 ILCS 5/7-43) - Illinois Public Act 97-0681. There was a time when a person could not vote if they didn’t own property, if they were a different ethnic background, or simply if they were a female instead of a male. No voter should be punished or intimidated for casting a vote which would have made a voter ineligible to run for office, which Illinois Public Act 97-0681 does.
Let’s leave a fairer, less complicated and democratic election process for the 2014 Election. Indeed, there is much more to be accomplished for genuine election reform! Unnecessarily complicated and confusing election codes, gerrymandering, and more, needs to be addressed.
Take action right now: Sign the petition demanding that our elected officials stop bickering and start working together to solve America's problems. We deserve real leadership and accountability from our politicians. Ballot access for everyday Americans like you and me is a good place to start.
With your support, we can start the first step to meaningful election reform for a better tomorrow!
