IDOC and COVID-19 death sentences
"The Department of Corrections has tremendous power to release people into electronic detention," Soble said. "The question is not 'Should they be released,' but rather is 'Should they be released now when the threat of a global pandemic means that continued incarceration could turn a sentence of three years, or six years, or even ten years into a death sentence.'" Let's look at offenders that have medical issues, those that have almost completed their sentences, and those with low class felonies and get them home. Let's also look at those that have filed emergency clemency. If electronic monitoring is possible, I'm not sure why this hasn't been looked at and action taken months ago. This is a global pandemic and we want to prevent additional medical conditions and possible death from occurring.
