This petition was created to get the truth out about the IHX transition into a CWA-represented role. Many doubters and anti-union people have gone to great extents to voice their opinions on this topic. I have always encouraged the view points from both sides of the aisle. Whether you are pro-Union, in the middle and or against it, your opinion matters. The issue that I have seen is the misinformation out there is staggering. This is why I am Fighting Back with Facts! First, lets talk about about some of the most important topics IHX workers care about. Lets start with this RUMOR: "My salary is capped and I can no longer get paid higher than what I am earning." FALSE! Everyone in IHX will keep their current rate of pay and some will see an increase right away. But EVERYONE will get another raise in February 2025. EVERYONE. And every February going forward for the next 3 years, EVERYONE will get another raise.  Gone are the days of management giving out raises based on performance. With so many external factors like inflation, saturation in the market and dispatches becoming less and less everyday, you cannot depend on sales to match your annual wage increases. A lot of you have heard of co-workers get a 1-2% raise this year. That's why IHX workers voted to become Union. Here's another RUMOR: The commission is changing since we're going Union. FALSE: The Union is not changing the commission! Only the Company has the authority to amend the commission structure. The other 13 states that IHX voted the Union in also didn't have their commission change. Neither will SOUTH TEXAS! Here are some other facts: IHX will continue to be off on Sunday's, off on Holidays and will transition to a 40 hours workday. Our Healthcare plans are less expensive than the management plans. Under the Mobility contract, it offers up to 10 days of Illness pay(sick pay). The Mobility contract offers an additional 7 days of paid-time off. This is in addition to your vacation balances. Yes-7 days. Lets talk about the work/life balance. Some IHX workers just don't have any. Some are forced to work long hours through the night and come in on their days off. The Union will bring actual Work/Life balance to this title. If you are scheduled to come in to a meeting at 7am- you can ask your manager to shut down at 4pm. If you want to stay and work late, you can do that too. But if you want to voluntarily shut down, then just let your manager know that you want to exercise the 40 hour work week clause. Now that IHX is Union, IHX now has a job guarantee in the case of layoff/surplus. There could potentially be hundreds of workers without jobs if the Company announced a surplus or layoff. IHX South Texas is now protected from this type of catastrophe. As of now, IHX has some of the highest turnover rates in the country. You can be fired for not meeting your goal in 2 months.  IHX workers want more than anything to know they have a secure job, not just for one year , but, for many years to come. And many IHX workers have not been able to comfortably say, "My job is secure" Well, now now you can. Managers can no longer force their "personal" goals and metrics on IHX workers. There is only one standard when it comes to goals and that is MyResults, some call it Whiteboard. IHX workers stress out every day trying to hit these high-stretch goals. Not anymore! Moving on to Performance based topics: It seems managers have been running their own favorite-based system since the beginning. Approving vacation based on performance, giving workers preferred days based on Performance. Whether you think this is right or not, is not the question. The process of doing everything performance-based leaves many out to dry. We now have a voice in the argument, we want a system that allows everyone to get a fair shake in this process. We now have the authority to go to management and make them address the inequality in performance-based programs so that we can give everyone an equal chance regardless of performance. I've personally talked to IHX workers over the last few months about the issues they face on a daily basis. Many issues go unresolved because the workers have no power and authority to address them. So the problems continue and they continue to get worse.  Becoming Union means having POWER. We now have the authority to call meetings with management and address the issues and concerns and force the Company to act. Being Union carries with it a power that doesn't have a dollar amount or a tangible benefit. It is worth more than any benefit or resource the Company could offer you. Let's face it, an extra week of vacation will not mean a whole lot when you are being disciplined for not meeting their stretch goal and facing termination and that extra week of vacation will not mean much when you realize the Company has chose to surplus your entire title. So let's all come together and start exercising our rights that we now have and let's work together to make the IHX role an even better title than it was before.
