One of the biggest pieces of feedback for Doom 2016 was that campaign Co-op would be great. Some of my best gaming experiences have been playing campaign co-op fps such as Doom and Halo but modern games don't bother anymore.

With it straight forward to add on since the game has already been built it would be nice if ID would add that mode so that we can play it with friends.

If you don't like the mode because it changes the story line etc you don't have to play it.
