Hello. My name is Nick Zaino. I am 14 years old. I am a huge Stony Brook University Ice Hockey Fan and people have even told me I am their biggest fan. I’m also currently a season ticket holder for the team. Stony Brook Hockey has a rich history, with over 50 years of being in existence, 13 league titles, over 20 National Tournament appearances. For a team that has so much history, I think it’s unfair a lot of the other sports get to have facilities to use on campus but ice hockey doesn’t. Hockey should also be a major sport at SBU. If other sport teams can have fields on campus with their logo in the middle of it and hundreds of fans show up to games, they should too. It would be a way to get more SB students involved in sports and how exciting they are. There isn't a lot of activities to do for the students on campus, so building an ice rink would be great for the entire student body. Getting an ice rink on campus, would not only help student engagement, but would also help the popularity of the school and social life on campus. It would also benefit the players themselves so that they wouldn't have to drive from their homes to the rink they currently play at, and could stay on campus for their home games. If not for building an ice rink on the SBU campus, I think the Hockey team should be a bigger part of the school. So please, help me get the Stony Brook Seawolves an ice rink on their grounds. I think it would greatly impact the organization, fanbase, community, and student body. - Nick Zaino
