Kaming mga manggagawang Pilipino, indibidwal, organisasyon, mga tagasuporta at tagapagtaguyod ng interes ng OFWs sa Hong Kong at iba pang mga bansa ay nagkakaisa sa panawagan na tuluyang ibasura ang overseas employment certificate o OEC.

Sa matagal na panahon ang OEC ay isang bangungot sa ating OFWs. Sa tuwing uuwi tayo para magbakasyon ay pwersado tayong kumuha ng OEC, dahil kung wala tayo nito hindi tayo makakabalik sa ating trabaho. Hindi palalabasin ng bansa ang mga OFW na walang maipakitang OEC sa airport.

Bakit HINDI kailangan ng mga OFW ang OEC?

1.     Dagdag gastos at perwisyo lamang ang dulot ng OEC, digital man o manual ang pagkuha. Nauubos ang day-off sa mahabang pila at hindi makaalis sa pila para kumain at makapunta sa CR.

2.     Mayroon na tayong working visa at employment contract na validated ng POEA at verified ng POLO.  Sapat na ito bilang patunay na tayo ay lehitimong OFW sa bansang ating pinagtatrabahuhan.

3.     Ginagamit ang OEC para ikabit ang iba pang mandatory na bayarin gaya ng OFW compulsory insurance at Pag-IBIG. Maaari din itong ikabit kahit sa PhilHealth at SSS. Ang mga OFW sa Macau at mga nasa Pilipinas ay puwersadong bumili muna ng insurance bago mabigyan ng OEC.

4.     Ito ay pangongotong ng Gobyerno sa OFWs na tinaguriang bagong bayani. Gatasang baka ang turing ng gobyerno sa atin, at sa halip na maglingkod, pinagkakakitaan tayo.

5.   Balon ito ng korupsyon. Saan napupunta ang sinisingil na P100 pesos ($20 sa Hong Kong) sa bawat OFW na lumalabas ng bansa gayung hindi naman napupunta sa serbisyo sa ating kagalingan?

We Filipino workers, individuals, organizations, supporters, and advocates of the interests of OFWs in Hong Kong and other countries are one with the call to finally do away with the Overseas Employment Certificate or OEC.

 

 

For the longest time, the OEC has been a nightmare to OFWs. Every single time we go home for our vacation, we are forced to get OEC, because without it, we cannot return to our job site. We will not be allowed to leave the Philippines if we cannot show an OEC in the airport.

 

Why do OFWs not need OEC?

 

1. The OEC is just additional expense and inconvenience, whether it be acquired through digital or manual means. The whole day off is wasted due to long lines, and OFWs cannot even leave the line to eat or go to the toilet.

2. We already have a work visa and employment contract that has been validated by POEA and verified by POLO. These are enough to prpve that we are legotomate OFWs in the countries we work in.

3. The OEC is being used to require payment of fees such as OFW compulsory insurance and Pag-IBIG. PhilHealth and SSS payment may also be required in the future. OFWs in Macau and OFWs in the Philippines are being requires ro avail of insurance before being given OEC.

4. This is extortion by the government of OFWs, whom the former has called "modern heroes." We are milking cows in the PH government's eyes, so instead of serving us, they make money off of us.

5. This is a well of corruption. Where does the Php100 (HK$20 in HK) that is taken from every OFW that leaves the Philippines go to, given that the amount doesn't go to services fpr our welfare?
