IAEM-USA Members ONLY - Petition to change By-Laws to require Officers be active CEMs
IAEM-USA Members ONLY - Petition to change By-Laws to require Officers be active CEMs
The Issue
PLEASE NOTE: This petition is for active members only of the International Association of Emergency Managers - USA Council (IAEM-USA), as it is designed to be a conduit for change, as per their Administrative Policies and Procedures (APPs), approved June 20, 2023.
Whereas the IAEM-USA APPs (Section IV. Voting, Part F. Procedures) allow for any proposition for change to the By Laws as an amendment, by a member to be put forth via petition, member Michael Prasad, CEM puts forth the following:
Be it resolved, that Article IV – Section 9, Part A of the IAEM-USA’s Bylaws be amended to read:
A. To be elected or appointed an officer, a member shall meet the following requirements:
1. Have been an Individual member and active Certified Emergency Manager® for a minimum of two consecutive years prior to seeking office, and remain both an Association member and active CEM® throughout their term(s) of service.
2. Served as a regional officer, committee chair, or been an active committee member for two consecutive years.
3. In order to be placed on the ballot for election to office, the person must meet the qualifications as established in the Administrative Policies and Procedures.
###
Please note that Change.Org does not have an underline/strikethrough capability, so the changes to the existing text of the IAEM-USA By-Laws are marked in Italic and Bold here. Once the petition has reached the threshold for submission to the Association, it will be "submitted in writing using underline and strikeout text and clearly specifying the appropriate Bylaws section."
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: All names will be cross-validated against the IAEM-USA member list to ensure validity of the 'signatures' on the petition. Please do not complete this petition if you are not an active IAEM-USA member. Thank you.
