Dear Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,

I hope this letter finds you well, and your bicycle rides are going smoothly on the beautifully maintained roads of your area. I'm writing to you today as a concerned citizen, and a resident Pammal, Shankar Nagar with Area Pincode of 600075, who's fed up with the poor condition of our roads.

There are four entry points to my home, and all four routes have roads that are, quite frankly, a nightmare. I'm not sure if you've ever had to commute on these roads, but I can assure you, it's an adventure every day. I've lost count of the number of times I've almost fallen off my two-wheeler due to the potholes and uneven surfaces.

I must say, I was impressed to see you riding a bicycle on the roads, encouraging us to do the same. But, let's be real, not all of us are blessed with the same road conditions as you. I wish you could experience the joy of riding on our roads, even for a day. Maybe then you'll understand why I'm not exactly inspired to take up cycling as a hobby.

The roads in our area have been in a terrible state for years, despite multiple complaints from residents. The underground sewage pipeline work has been going on for over two years, and it's still not complete. I'm starting to think it's a never-ending project. It's like we're living in a different Chennai altogether.

I'm not sure what's more surprising, the fact that VIP areas get fixed in a couple of days, or that our roads take years to complete. Is it because our votes are less valuable than those living in posh areas? I hope not.

I'm not asking for much, just basic infrastructure like clean water, better roads, and a functional sewage system. Is that too much to ask for?

I request you to please visit Pammal, Shankar Nagar roads and experience the joy of commuting on our roads. Maybe, just maybe, your presence will speed up the work.

My neighbour had made a similar complaint last year on 25th July 2023, and few officials had visited and addressed the complaint and assured that the work will be completed in three months. I'm still waiting. If that's the kind of solution you're going to offer this time around, please don't waste our time and fuel(it’s taxpayers money).

Please let us know a schedule of when road works can happen around Pammal, Shankar Nagar.

I'll be waiting for your reply and your visit to my home. Who knows, maybe your presence will inspire me to take up cycling after all.
