Downingtown, centrally located in Chester County and along the Keystone rail line, is uniquely positioned to support a new train station and mixed-use revitalization project (retail and residential) at the Sonoco Paper Mill site at Rt. 322 and Boot Road.
The development of the old paper mill with private investment would help secure the long-term economic health of the Downingtown community and support growth in the downtown commercial district.
This petition encourages the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to work with the Borough of Downingtown and potential developers to clean-up this blighted and unsafe property with a mixed-use development and new train station.
