I Oppose Snow Creek Dog Park

I Oppose Snow Creek Dog Park
The Issue
Read more about the issue here .
The City of Walnut is proposing a dog park to be built at Snow Creek Park in Walnut, which is connected to Mt. SAC's Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary houses many sensitive species, and so does Snow Creek Park.
For our native species, a dog park being here could lead to habitat fragmentation (resulting in our beautiful mammals and birds having to leave the area), transmission of bacterial and parasitic species (causing health issues for our animals, water pollution(affecting aquatic species like mollusks, crawfish, and frogs), and an imbalance of biodiversity (higher concentration of coyotes because of dog urine).
For dogs, the park could also mean that more dogs could be exposed to hookworm, roundworm, tapeworm, fights between each other, E.Coli, and Salmonella.
For locals, a dog park can cause noise pollution in a long quiet and serene natural area, call coyotes into their neighborhoods, and harbor pungent odors that are unwanted in the park. Most of all, the dog park causing issues to our native species can affect the species in Mt.SAC's wildlife sanctuary, which was built to protect species!
