I am a resident of Pangasinan, Philippines and my story is one of struggle and resilience.
The Issue
I am a resident of Pangasinan, Philippines and my story is one of struggle and resilience. My family and I have faced numerous health challenges that were exacerbated by the lack of adequate healthcare facilities in our region. This personal experience has motivated me to start this petition.
Pangasinan, despite being one of the most populous provinces in the country, lacks sufficient healthcare infrastructure. According to data from the Department of Health (DOH), there are only 44 hospitals for a population exceeding 3 million people. This means that for every hospital, there are approximately 68,000 individuals relying on its services.
Furthermore, these hospitals are not evenly distributed across the province leading to accessibility issues for those living in remote areas. In some cases, patients have to travel long distances just to receive basic medical care which can be detrimental especially during emergencies.
The situation is further worsened by an inadequate number of healthcare professionals with a doctor-patient ratio far below WHO's recommended standard.
This petition aims at urging our local government officials as well as national health authorities to prioritize improving healthcare facilities in Pangasinan. We need more hospitals equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed with trained professionals who can provide quality care for all residents regardless of where they live within the province.
Our health should not be compromised due to geographical location or lack of resources. Let's unite as a community and demand better healthcare services for Pangasinan! Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare services.
